How this website handles information

Information processed when you visit

Wix hosts this site and may process technical information needed to deliver, secure, and operate it, such as an IP address, device and browser information, requested pages, timestamps, cookies, and security events.

We use Wix analytics and, only when you allow both Analytics and Data sharing with third parties in the site privacy settings, Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate site use and interactions such as lesson starts, event-listing activity, registration-link clicks, and successful partnership inquiries. These providers may receive technical and online-identifier information associated with your visit. Session recording is disabled. HPF does not download or maintain a separate visitor-level analytics database.

Essential technologies support security and core operation. The site provides privacy settings for available non-essential technology choices and stores that choice locally in your browser so it can be remembered. Direct GA4 loads only after you explicitly allow both Analytics and Data sharing with third parties. Wix-supplied components remain subject to Wix's applicable consent controls.

Learning Room

Lesson selections, knowledge-check answers, reflection text, progress, and completion status in the current Learning Room are session-only and are not submitted to HPF as learner records. They are lost when the page is refreshed or closed. Visitors may create or use a Wix member account to access membership features; account and membership information are handled through Wix.

Memberships and payments

Public membership enrollment and checkout are currently paused. Existing members may continue to use their Wix member accounts. Wix and HPF may retain account, membership, order, and payment-related records from existing or earlier transactions as needed to administer those records and respond to related requests. Wix processed any prior checkout and payment-card details; this site did not receive or store full payment-card details.

Public History Explorer student applications are also paused. Earlier applications may remain in Wix Contacts and Notes, with any proof-of-enrollment document stored as a private Wix Media Manager file, until HPF reviews whether the record remains needed for the application, membership, privacy, or recordkeeping purpose. No new application information or proof file can be submitted while the application is paused.

Course partnership inquiries

When you submit the course partnership form, we collect your name, email address, golf course or club name, and any message you choose to provide. The information is stored in Wix Contacts and Notes so HPF can review the inquiry and follow up; an internal notification is also sent to HPF. Please do not include payment-card, health, government-ID, or other sensitive information in the free-text message.

Third-party content and links

The Events page does not automatically load Google Maps or venue-hosted photographs. Links to event organizers, registration documents, course websites, source materials, email addresses, telephone numbers, and directions lead to services governed by their own terms and privacy practices. A destination receives a request only when you choose to follow its link.

Purposes and sharing

We use the information described above to deliver and secure the site, diagnose errors, understand aggregate use, administer existing membership records, process course-partnership planning inquiries, review earlier application records, and maintain educational content. Information may be processed by Wix, Google Analytics, and service providers used by Wix to provide hosting, member, payment, media, email, and analytics functions. When you follow an external link, the selected destination processes information under its own terms and privacy practices.

HPF does not sell personal information through this website. We do not use the Learning Room to create a durable record of lesson answers, progress, or reflections.

Retention and your choices

Wix controls retention of hosting, security, cookie, analytics, membership, payment, contact, and media data under its service settings and privacy policy. The site does not currently state fixed retention periods for membership records, inquiries, student applications, or their supporting documents. HPF will review those records when they are no longer needed for the relevant membership, inquiry, application, operational, or recordkeeping purpose.

You may use the site's privacy settings control to manage available non-essential technology choices. For a privacy, access, correction, or deletion request, contact HPF using the details below. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify that a request concerns you and will use the tools available in Wix's Privacy Center where applicable.

Children

The site is educational, but its student membership application is currently paused and does not accept new information. HPF will not reopen that application or add another child-directed account, submission, or persistent learning feature without a separate safeguarding and privacy review.

Changes to this notice

Material changes will be posted here with a revised effective date.
